Recycled

It is estimated that we throw away nearly one million tonnes of clothing per year, most of which goes to landfill. Landfill is a major environmental hazard; every time it rains all the chemicals and dyes used in our discarded clothing are washed into the ground polluting waterways, not to mention the large quantities of greenhouse gases released as fabric and other human waste degrades.

The international symbol for recyclingIf the ever-increasing amounts of landfill concern you, you might want to think about using recycled materials for your fashion range.

There are several options to consider. You could go for customisation; taking an item of old clothing and revamping it, or you might want to try using fabric off-cuts that have been discarded or fibres like fleece that have been made from old plastic bottles.
